When it comes to Japanese food, one of our favorites has always been katsus and their sauce. There’s one such restaurant that specializes in katsus and there’s one in Robinson’s Galleria, Yabu, the house of katsu. The prices are not that steep, but it isn’t one for daily dining though. And yes, we had higher expectations since it is their specialty and it’s at a midrange price point.
It’s located near the Ortigas side entrance of Galleria along a line of restaurants. The place is just okay though. Good ambiance and quite a good number of seats. The tables are okay and the couches are comfortable.
They have the Yabu way of preparing the katsu sauce. No matter which way you do it, it should still be good. I really liked the katsu sauce. They’re much like the ones we buy from Japanese stores such as in Little Tokyo in Makati. We got the afternoon promo so we had a bit of a discount. Not sure how long it will last.
Our katsu meal has vegetables, fruits and miso soup. As for the katsu itself, it was really good. Not too floury and it has good color for a fried katsu. It’s crunchy and delicious, especially with that sauce and definitely worth it. It’s not over-the-top excellent scrumptious katsu but it’s among the very best.
The staffs were nice and assisted us with our requests, starting from the choosing of our seats to the water request. We appreciated their vigilance. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Yabu and would recommend you guys to try it out.
